We had a black shelving unit in the living room for a while, but I was ready for something new. Something lighter, airier and more spacious! That's how I ended up with a shelving unit from TOSIZE.be as the perfect upgrade to give the whole space a fresh look.
The wall I wanted to cover is quite long, so a wall-wide cabinet was quite a daunting choice. Still, the idea kept running through my head – and it just had to happen! Using the configurator on TOSIZE.be, I put together exactly the cabinet I had in mind. I wanted sufficient storage space at the bottom and an open, light appearance with generous compartments to put beautiful eye-catchers in. We hid the TV in the rightmost part of the cabinet. This compartment is slightly narrower than the left and middle compartments because we wanted to make a sliding door here; MDF panels are no wider than 1220 mm. That is why we chose to make this compartment slightly more compact. The MDF panel of the door is 1220 mm wide and 18 mm thick. The height depends on the height of your home.
Once the cabinet was up, I neatly finished all the seams with acrylic sealant. Then we gave the walls and the cabinet a coat of paint in the color Ivory from Shades by Eric Kuster, which makes the cabinet blend in seamlessly with the wall. We used wall paint for the wall and lacquer paint for the cabinet.
We made the sliding door from a large MDF board, and we attached slats of acoustic panels with sealant. We removed the black felt base of the slats because I wanted a light background. That took a lot of time and work, so here's a tip: seal the panels directly onto the MDF and make the sliding door from that - that will save you a lot of hassle!
I found a sliding system with softclose (found here: Argenta Proslide ) and finished the system with a cove at the top, a 10 cm high MDF strip.
