Machining of MDF boards
The board consists of wood fibres that are compressed under high pressure. This makes the material easy to process. When milling or sawing, this board material does not splinter. The fibres are held together by resin. Therefore, it is important to degrease the board properly before painting it. The material also has a suction effect, which is why we recommend always finishing the open edges with an edge sealer. For this reason, this MDF is only suitable for indoor applications and in dry conditions.
Are you going to paint MDF? Then it is a good idea to plug the screw holes with filler. Then sand and paint it neatly in one go.
Specific applications of Flexible MDF
Flexible MDF is ideally suited for the finishing of low, wide shapes. Think of making s-shapes, but also cylindrical and curved constructions can be created with great ease. The homogeneous structure makes MDF, in comparison to other board material, less sensitive to shrinking and expanding at varying temperatures. MDF Flexible is not suitable for applications in damp spaces or outdoors.
