Can you also make it an open back wall?

In each compartment, we supply standard rear panels. Pre-drilled holes are also provided in each compartment. The rear walls are sandwiched between the uprights and beams and are 18 mm thick. This ensures a lot of solidity! Would you like to omit a back wall for a particular compartment? Then do so at your own risk. We recommend mounting at least one back wall per row for strength. It is also good to realise that you will see holes in compartments where the back panel is left out during assembly. If you have chosen MDF, you can of course fill these holes before painting.
